How to Play Ultimate Baccarat

When playing baccarat, you initiate the game by placing a bet on which hand you think will attain a point total closest to nine, either the banker or the player. You also have the alternative to bet on a tie. The banker is the player with the 'shoe,' or the special box that holds the decks of cards.
Two cards are dealt to the player and the banker. The first and third cards dealt from the shoe belong to the player's hand, and the second and fourth cards are the banker's hand.
Tens and face cards are worth zero, aces count as one and cards numbered two through nine have face value. The player hits on a total of five or less and stands on a total of six or seven. If the player gets a third card, the banker must follow a specific set of rules.

If the initial card total is two digits, the first digit is dropped. For example, if a pair of sixes is dealt, the total is 12. The one is dropped off, leaving a hand totaling two. A hand is called a 'natural' when the first two cards total eight or nine. A natural is a winner, unless there is a tie. If neither hands have a natural win, another card for each hand has to be drawn. You win even money when the hand you bet on wins. A winning banker bet pays a five per cent commission that is withheld from the payout. The tie bet wins if both hands have matching totals and pays eight to one. In the tie scenario, all bets on the player or the banker are not taken or paid.
