Kinnie Starr To Join Cirque du Soleil - 2003-04-05
Look out Celine, another Canadian gal is about to take over Vegas.

Hip-hop slam poet/freaky beatnik dance rocker Kinnie Starr has been chosen to be the lead vocalist for an upcoming production by the art weirdo gymnasts at Cirque du Soleil.

The untitled Cirque production, which will revolve around the topics of "sensuality, humanity and art," will be permanently situated at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The curtain is expected to come up on the show starting in July 2003.

Regulators consider anti-monopoly rules - 2003-04-05
The state Gaming Control Board, convening Thursday in Carson City, discussed draft regulations that could prevent companies from owning over 5 percent of casinos in the state and more than 50 percent of a local market area.

The draft has changed a few times. A previous version had called for companies to own no more than 15 percent statewide or 50 percent of a local market.
