Reservation, Casino In Works Near DIA - 2004-01-01
A Longmont-based investment company plans to purchase land east of Denver International Airport on behalf of two Indian tribes, win designation as a reservation and then construct a major casino. The reservation and the casino's earnings would compensate the Cheyenne and Arapaho for the Sand Creek Massacre in 1864 as ordered by Congress, under the proposed agreement by Council Tree Communications.

The company, which calls its proposal the "Cheyenne-Arapaho Homecoming Project," envisions building a $100 million casino complex on 300 to 500 acres about 15 to 30 miles east of Denver, according to a confidential presentation dated September 2003 and obtained by the News.

Turning Stone hails 2004 - 2004-01-01
While some revelers welcomed the New Year at a hotel or bar, others decided to usher in 2004 at their favorite casino.

The Turning Stone Casino brought in 2004 with their annual celebration.

This year’s theme was Mardi Gras’ Fat Tuesday.

The celebration went on until 4:30 am Thursday morning. There were circus performers, live entertainment and New Orleans-style food.

“Creole and crawfish…blackened fish, we got it. You name it, we got it, New Orleans right here,” said event planner Ted Ferlo.
