Brienza: Gingras enjoying big time success - 2004-01-10
First, it was Mike Lachance. Then came Luc Ouellette. He was followed by Daniel Dube. Now, Yannick Gingras has chosen to change his base of operations from Yonkers Raceway to the Meadowlands.

And his decision has started to pay dividends. Gingras, 23, reported three victories in his first week as the "new kid on the block." The talented native of Quebec posted 399 victories last year at Yonkers, where he finished second in the driver standings behind Stephane Bouchard, who had in the past tested the waters but never made a full-time commitment to the Big M.

Gingras' decision earned trips to the Big M winner's circle in the first two nights of the 2004 meeting and then again last Thursday. He drove a $26 winner (Casino Miss) on Jan. 2 for trainer Mark Ford, a $20.20 winner (Ponce De Leon N) on Jan. 3 for trainer Vicki Mosher and another winner for Ford with Cam's Prime ( $16.20).

Details about a proposed deal could be published.

Leaders hope to close a profitable deal with a Midwestern tribe - whose identity hasn't been revealed - while wrangling continues in court over the license belonging to Emerald Casino Inc.
