Debates over building an additional Native American
casino in northeastern Wisconsin have come and gone in recent years, but the region isn’t alone.
Dane County is in the midst of a heated discussion over whether a Ho-Chunk Nation bingo hall in Madison should be transformed into a full-fledged casino.
And with a countywide referendum vote scheduled for February, a Madison cheese retailer is trying to inject some fun in an otherwise serious debate.
His strategy: an in-store “Cheesino.”
Jeff Price, owner of the House of Wisconsin Cheese at 107 State St., said the tongue-in-cheek theme would be around for the next month or so in his store.
