Debates on the future of gambling in Delaware may be in the cards for lawmakers when the General Assembly reconvenes this week, but whether proposals to develop gambling succeed is uncertain.
With Delaware facing possible competition from Maryland and Pennsylvania, whose governors want to establish slot machine casinos to generate revenue for state coffers, some lawmakers want to expand gambling options in the First State.
By some estimates, slot machines in Pennsylvania and Maryland could cost Delaware's general fund more than $100 million a year.
