Casino Winners Robbed Of R74 000 In Cash - 2004-01-13
A Durban couple's good luck at a local casino became a nightmare on 12, January 2004 when they were robbed at gunpoint by three armed men outside their beachfront apartment. The couple, who has asked to remain anonymous because they fear for their safety, were robbed of R74 000 which they won in a late night gambling spree at a Casino.
The couple, who are regular punters, were on a winning streak and won R146 000 on a jackpot, which was paid to them by cheque. Their luck continued and they won a further R74 000 in cash on the slot machines. At about 2.40am we decided to call it a day and return to our beachfront flat, which is a few blocks from the casino.
