Governor supporting casino bill - 2004-01-15
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is supporting a proposal to build a casino near the Kansas Speedway.

The governor's chief counsel, Matthew All, testified Tuesday before the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee that the governor would support a state-owned or Native American destination casino.

"She thinks there's room for both," All said in an interview later.

County narrows field for casino developers, Harrah's out - 2004-01-15
Harrah's Entertainment has been eliminated from consideration for a planned casino development in south St. Louis County, the St. Louis County Gaming Selection Committee said Wednesday.

Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment Inc. proposed a $275 million casino project in south St. Louis County close to Jefferson Barracks Bridge, but did not present a bid for a new casino in the city
of St. Louis. In a statement, the committee said the absence of a city proposal was a "significant concern," because of the Missouri Gaming Commission's preference for a casino downtown.
