Casino revenues hit wall - 2004-01-16
Detroit’s casino profits in 2003 barely exceeded 2002 and industry officials don’t expect much growth this year.

Overall, total casino revenues for MGM Grand Detroit, Greektown Casino and MotorCity Casino added up to $1.13 billion last year, up only four-tenths of 1 percent or $5,058,387.

MGM Grand was the only casino to show growth. Gamblers spent $403.3 million in 2003, up $8.3 million over 2002 or 2.1 percent.

North La Crosse casino robbed - 2004-01-16
A lone gunman help up a North La Crosse Street casino late Thursday afternoon.

The man walked into the casino in the 700 block of North La Crosse between 5:25 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., according to Lt. Louie Lange of the Rapid City Police Department.

The man ordered the casino's clerk to open the cash register.

He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, Lange said.
