Ontario casinos take big hit - 2004-01-17
Based on second quarter results compiled by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., attendance and revenues at both Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls and slot machine operations at Fort Erie Racetrack were off, in some instances by as much as 28%. The OLGC's fiscal year runs April 1-March 31.

For the second quarter, ended Sept. 30, Casino Niagara took in $135.93 million (Canadian), down from $168.43 million for the same period in the previous year, a drop of 19.2 percent. Through the first half of its 2003-04 fiscal year, Casino Niagara took in $265.55 million in gaming revenues, down 19.3 percent from the $329.23 million in the same period last year.

Isle of Capri's Admiral deal hinges on city-county win - 2004-01-17
The Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. coming closer to the purchase of the bankrupt President Casino on the Admiral, but new contingencies to its purchase agreement permit the gaming operator to back out of the agreement should it not win proposals for two new casinos in the metro region.

Prior to completing its due diligence of the Admiral last month, the Isle had a contingency in its purchase agreement that allowed it to walk away from its $50 million offer to purchase the casino at nearly any point prior to the bankruptcy court approving a sale process.
