Downs' Casino Set To Be 2nd Biggest - 2004-01-17
Plains Township could be the location for one of the biggest slot machine parlors in Pennsylvania if state lawmakers pass a much-anticipated bill to expand gambling at the Downs at Pocono and as many as 13 other facilities.

An entertainment company has plans to build a 181,623-square-foot casino at the Downs. That would rank the parlor as the second largest planned for the state - just a little smaller than the facility proposed for the Race Course outside Harrisburg, but larger than what's expected for Philadelphia Park in Bucks County.

Sebelius Keeps Casino Stance Secret - 2004-01-17
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius refused Friday to confirm that she will recommend the state build a casino in Wyandotte County.

Sebelius' chief counsel, Matt All, told a Senate committee earlier in the week that the governor would soon submit a recommendation for a large, state-owned casino in western Wyandotte County.

But Sebelius said Friday that she was still working on her proposal for expanded gambling in Kansas.
