Placer casino manager to sell $400M in notes - 2004-01-19
Station Casinos Inc. of Las Vegas, which runs the popular Thunder Valley Casino in Placer County,
said it has consented to issue $400 million in 6.5 percent senior subordinated notes due Feb. 1, 2014.

The company said last week it will use the proceeds to buy or redeem almost $200 million in 8.875 percent notes due in December 2008, reduce its revolving credit facility, and for general corporate purposes.

Station said the notes will not be registered under the Securities Act of 1933. The company expects to close the transaction on Jan. 29.

Odds improve for gaming bill - 2004-01-19
The governor's intention to back a gaming bill, made known earlier this week, is what makes a gaming initiative this legislative session different from past efforts.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will support a destination casino in Wyandotte County, along with other proposals in the gaming package. A bill will be introduced that says the state will own the casino, and most probably the state will get most of the proceeds from it.
