Construction on casino project may start in September - 2004-01-20
Construction of a $90 million casino, hotel and theater center at Illinois 92 and Interstate 280 could start in September.

Representatives from Jumer's Casino Rock Island gave a presentation on the project Monday night at the Rock Island City Council's study session.

Gary Buettner, vice president and chief financial officer for Jumer's Casino Rock Island, said an agreement to purchase the 110 acre site, now owned by RiverStone Group, could be reached in a few months.

"The Casino" TV Series opts to shoot HD with VariCam - 2004-01-20
Panasonic announced that its AJ-HDC27 VariCam™ High Definition Cinema cameras have been chosen to film THE CASINO, a new reality series for FOX. THE CASINO will be the first Primetime Network unscripted reality show to be filmed completely in high definition (HD).

Production by reality king Mark Burnett Productions on the 13-episode series will begin this Spring and air in summer 2004.

THE CASINO will provide a 24/7, behind-the-scene look at the real-life dramas that unfold at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino after its new owners take control of the business and attempt to bring back it back to its past glory.
