Harrah's home makeover to surprise soldier - 2004-01-20
Harrah's Council Bluffs Casino & Hotel, combined with its "Home Improvement Giveaway" promotion, has joined forces with Brenda Gamblin of Brenda Gamblin Interiors Inc. to conduct a living room makeover at the residence of a local Army Reservist who is currently deployed in Iraq.

Gamblin will have $2,000 and two days to complete the transformation at the home of Staff Sgt. Jeffery Holm, 2917 Avenue C. He is a member of the 129th Transportation Co., based in Gardner and Osage City, Kan.

While some casino operators in Pierce County worry about losing business to a new smoke ban, one restaurant owner in King County gladly stamped out cigarettes at his place. He says business is up.

Richard Malia decided to make his Ponti Seafood Grill smoke free for several reasons, but the reason closest to his heart is that smoking destroyed his mother's life. At 18 years of age, Richard watched his mom fall to the ground - from a smoking related stroke. She was never the same.
