Casino taxes for state are ahead of projections - 2004-01-21
The state's share of casino taxes is running $4.4 million ahead of projections for the fiscal year that started in July, according to data published by the Indiana State Budget Agency and the Indiana Gaming Commission.
Indiana's 10 casinos took in $184 million last December, a $15 million increase from the same period in the previous year.
Casino operators attributed the growth to the state's approval of 24-hour gambling in July. They said that the change to dockside gambling in 2002 is still drawing more customers.
