SUGAR RAY LEONARD BOXING: Homie on latest card - 2004-01-21
Sugar Ray Leonard is giving local boxer Norberto "Nito" Bravo a chance to impress the home crowd.

Leonard lighted up a group of roughly 50 people here yesterday as he announced the fight card for the Feb. 6 event at the Desert Diamond Casino.

The Aztlan Gym in the Centro Del Sur Community Center, 1631 S. 10th Ave., was the backdrop for the release of five of the scheduled seven bouts.

The setting was to emphasize the addition of Bravo, a Tucson boxer, to the undercard.

Racetrack slots get new focus in Trenton By PETE McALEER - 2004-01-21
Examining the addition of slot machines at state racetracks would be the first priority for a newly proposed Senate committee that would supervise legislation involving the state's casino, horse-racing and tourism industries.

Senate President Richard Codey, D-Essex, a longtime advocate for the horse-racing industry, proposed the formation of the Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preser-vation Committee on Tuesday.

The full Senate is expected to approve the proposal by amending the Senate rules Jan. 26.
