Casinos On Winning Streak - 2004-01-22
Northwest Indiana's casinos made $1.15 billion in 2003, up 8.2 percent from $1.06 billion in 2002. Casino operators attribute part of their successes to steep taxes in Illinois, still reasonable casino taxes in Indiana and the implementation of round the clock gambling in July 2003.

Horseshoe Casino was again Northwest Indiana's winner, bringing in $350.7 million in 2003 compared with $315.5 million in 2002. It was an 11 percent jump in revenues for the casino. Horseshoe also had the most winnings in December 2003 with $31.49 million, up from $27.3 million in December 2002.

Famed hotel has a new suitor - 2004-01-22
The West Baden Springs Hotel, the once-grand dome that has sat empty for almost twenty years in
Orange County, finally has a bidder.

A group of investors led by former Indiana State Police Sgt. Craig Adolph, who is vying to run a new Orange County casino, offered over $30 million on Wednesday to purchase the landmark hotel.

The purchase of the hotel is contingent upon Adolph's group, Tranchant Indiana, being chosen to operate the casino, which could open next year. But to those who have worked to bring jobs and money back to the financially strapped county, the offer represents progress.
