Buyer For Harrah's Shreveport Casino - 2004-01-22
Harrah's Entertainment has signed a deal to sell its Shreveport hotel-casino to Boyd Gaming for $190 million.

The deal, announced Tuesday, is subject to regulatory approval.

Harrah's plans to Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City from Jack Binion. In order to get federal government approval, Harrah's needed to sell its Shreveport casino to avoid overexposure in the market.

Oklahoma Tribe To Open Temporary Casino - 2004-01-22
The Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma and the city of Miami are counting on casino-style gambling to pay off in more tourism for the region.

The Peoria Tribe, which owns the land, will open a small, temporary gambling operation on the property Thursday. The tribe plans a $6 million casino and entertainment venue to be open on the site sometime in August.

"Peoria Chief George Froman said Tuesday that the venture will benefit the city through the purchase of utilities, as well as attracting more business for the area.
