Boyd Gaming buying Harrah's casino in Shreveport - 2004-01-22
Harrah's Entertainment Inc. of Las Vegas, the second-biggest U.S. casino company, said Tuesday it will sell its hotel and casino in Shreveport, La., to Boyd Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas for $190 million to prevent overexposure in Shreveport.
Harrah's, which already owns the Louisiana Downs horseracing track in nearby Bossier City, agreed in September to purchase Jack Binion's closely held Horseshoe Entertainment Holding Corp., which owns the casino in Shreveport.
The Harrah's-Boyd deal would help Harrah's gain approval from antitrust regulators of its Horseshoe Entertainment deal.
