Gormley, Asselta named to new wagering panel - 2004-01-23
Republican leadership appointed two strong advocates of the casino industry to the state Senate's newly formed Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee on Thursday.
Sen. Bill Gormley, R-Atlantic, and Sen. Nicholas Asselta, R-Cape May, Cumberland and Atlantic, are expected to be vocal opponents of any plans for Video Lottery Terminals, or VLTs, at racetracks because of the impact the machines would have on the casino industry and the southern New Jersey economy.
