Slots approved for Vancouver - 2004-01-23
An opinion survey commissioned by council and released last week showed 60 per cent of Vancouverites surveyed were against slots.

But Mayor Larry Campbell and others said 70 per cent of people, including representatives of 88 charities, who spoke at the council meeting approved of slots.

"Polls to me are just that, a snapshot," said Campbell. "I tend to go with people who vote with their feet."

As the Pennsylvania legislature goes back into session, the question on every member of the racing industry's mind is what will happen with slots legislation?

In an effort to find out just what may be in store for the citizens of the Commonwealth, TIMES: INSIDER contacted Tom Kauffman, the director of communications for the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association.

Will it surface, and if it does, will it pass?
