City Of Whittlesea Bowled Over On Poker Machines - 2004-01-23
Whittlesea Bowls Club has received approval for five new poker machines despite objections from Whittlesea Council and community groups.

The club had applied to add 10 new pokies, taking its total to 45. But the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority last month stated it would permit a total of only 40 machines at the Church Street venue.

Police seeking two robbers - 2004-01-23
Sparks police need help locating two men who earlier this month robbed the Sidelines Bar at gunpoint, stole gambling tokens and used them at a casino.

Roughly 20 tokens, with “Sidelines Bar” stamped on them, were found in $1 Bonanza Casino poker machines an hour after the 2 a.m. Jan. 6 armed robbery, police said. Detective Frank Granier said, at the time, casino security did not know of the robbery of the bar at 1237 Baring Boulevard.
