L.A. man found guilty in Las Vegas casino counterfeiting case - 2004-01-23
A federal jury has found a Los Angeles man guilty of conspiring to redeem hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit cashier's checks at a Las Vegas Strip casino, court officials said.
Jimmy Leung, 33, could serve five to 10 years in jail and be fined $250,000 on each of four federal felony charges when he is sentenced in April, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Damm said Thursday.
Federal conspiracy charges remain pending in Detroit against Leung and fugitive co-defendant Aziz Massomipour in what prosecutors described as a similar plan to cash counterfeit cashier's checks in Nevada.
