MFA's Monets: dicey deal? - 2004-01-24
Past the slot machines and the blackjack tables, there they'll be: 21 Monet masterworks, including the hypnotic 1905 painting, "Water Lilies," right in the center of the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas -- courtesy of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

In return for a payment of at least $1 million, the MFA has agreed to lend more than half of its Monet collection to a for-profit, Las Vegas gallery housed in the resplendent casino for a show opening this week.

High rollers dent Stanley's profits - 2004-01-24
Roulette and blackjack players may also soon be able to place a bet on the horses or football under plans by Liverpool-based Stanley Leisure to place betting shops in casinos.

Stanley's finance director Michael Riddy told the Daily Post there was a definite demand for the two to come together.

He was speaking as the company revealed a 13pc fall in half-year profits caused mainly by "high rollers" winning big at prestige Mayfair casino Crockfords.
