Room 1660 in the Mohegan Sun Hotel was a bit more cluttered than the other rooms Joana Rodrigues and Claudette Pedrozo had seen Thursday, but it wasn't that bad. "A lot of guests leave garbage on the floor," Pedrozo said.

The $500-a-night suite was the sixth room Rodrigues cleaned that day. It was the 10th for Pedrozo. They signed up for housekeeping when they applied for these jobs in Brazil. Housekeeping, Pedrozo said, would be simple to learn, and it was.
The two young women are among 200 Brazilian college students, all between the ages of 18 and 26, the casinos have hired to work in several different positions for the next three months.
