Mob's 'mini-casinos' on the rise, sheriff says - 2004-01-26
There has been a troubling growth in mob-controlled video gambling, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

Taverns used to tuck a single machine in the corner. Now, they line up four or more machines
"like a mini-casino," a sheriff's spokesman said. Most games are video poker or push-button slot machines.

In weekend gambling raids, sheriff's police confiscated 46 video gambling machines from 11 bars and restaurants. Most businesses had four or five machines.

Sigma Game Granted Mississippi Approval - 2004-01-26
Sigma Game Inc., celebrating twenty years as a casino supplier in 2004, today announced that it has received approval to sell its newest video reel game equipment to casinos throughout Mississippi.
The state's gaming commission informed the company that the final requirement, a 90-day field trial, had been successfully completed.

Approved for use in Mississippi is the company's upgraded "Dallas(TM)" operating system, the underlying technology platform for all its newest game offerings, and its related cabinet. Also granted approval was the company's "Amigo Road(TM)" game, the first in a series intended for the market.
