Mgm on Track for Casino Expansion - 2004-01-27
Six UK greyhound tracks could be converted into gaming emporiums in a deal involving one of the world’s top casino operators, it was revealed today.

Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage said moves to deregulate the UK gaming industry had sweetened its £270 million takeover of leisure group Wembley.

Card tables, roulette and hundreds of slot machines could be introduced at greyhound tracks, including Wimbledon, Oxford and Portsmouth.

Global Deal Not Likely to Match Last Year's Offer - 2004-01-27
Whatever deal comes out from the on-off talks between the shareholders of hotel and casino group Global Resorts and potential buyers, it will most probably not be as big as the one that got away last year.

The Metallon Corporation consortium is believed to have offered R1bn for Global Resorts, but the talks were terminated last May when certain conditions were not met. Aquila Growth's cautionary notice issued in November now refers to a "partial" sale.
