Measure X: 'Yes' means voter wants casino, 'no' means no - 2004-01-27
Simply, a yes vote on March 2’s Measure X referendum means the voter wants the proposed Indian casino to open in Hesperia. Equally, a no vote means the voter doesn’t wish to have gaming facility in town.

Technically, however, the measure’s text centers on whether the city should uphold the municipal services agreement it entered with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe last August.

The ballot text reads, “Shall Resolution No. 2003-67, adopted August 25, 2003 by the Hesperia City Council, approving a municipal services agreement with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe, become effective and upheld?”

Honeycutt: Expenditure discussion premature - 2004-01-27
It’s too soon to talk about the city’s potential casino earnings expenditures, Mayor Tad Honeycutt told fellow councilmembers at last Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

“It’s like Christmas, but we haven’t even got the money yet,” Honeycutt said after the City Council heard a staff report suggesting ways to spend the city’s expected $6.7 million in annual casino revenue. “I don’t want to count our chickens before they’re hatched.”

The city will vote on Hesperia’s municipal service agreement with the Timbisha Shoshone tribe on March 2.
