Casino kicks out stroke victim - 2004-01-28
A stroke victim was thrown out of a Territory casino because bouncers believed her to be drunk.

But the woman said yesterday she had consumed one beer and her medical condition had made her look intoxicated.

Registered Nurse Catherine Kemp, 47, felt
"humiliated, denigrated and discriminated against'' after the incident at Lasseters Hotel and Casino in Alice Springs.

The tourist from Victoria was staying at the hotel on Saturday with her fiancee.

Jerry Lewis home after rehab, weight loss - 2004-01-28
Comedian Jerry Lewis has returned home from a rehabilitation center a few weeks before scheduled, after overcoming a steroid dependence and losing more than 50 pounds, his publicist said Tuesday.

"He looks fabulous. His face is back to being the regular Jerry Lewis," said Candi Cazau, spokeswoman for Lewis and The Orleans hotel-casino in Las Vegas. "When you see the before and after pictures, it's incredible."

Lewis, who turns 78 in March, was focusing on a strict diet and exercise program and was planning a March 3 performance at The Orleans, Cazau said.
