The flop, the turn, the river: all terms that have become known buzzwords on college campuses, in pool halls and in casinos throughout the country with the recent explosion of No Limit Texas Hold'Em. Last weekend, Loyola found itself caught up in the poker craze as the class of 2005 and the Office of Student Activities sponsored the first ever Greyhound Texas Hold'Em Tournament in McGuire Hall.

Roughly 180 Loyola students, faculty and poker aficionados attended the event, which spanned Friday and Saturday nights. The contestants were broken down into tables of seven players each.

Video Poker Raids Hit 11 Bars - 2004-01-28
Cook County sheriff's police seized 46 video poker machines over the weekend from 11 suburban bars and restaurants that supposedly gave cash payouts to winning players.

Undercover investigators targeted several places over the last three months, posing as customers and playing the machines. On Friday and Saturday, police raided 11 bars and restaurants where officers allegedly had received payouts from bartenders and other employees.
