Beatles to play Las Vegas? - 2004-01-29
The "Yellow Submarine" shortly may sail into the Mirage casino in Las Vegas, replacing the closed
"Siegfried & Roy" act with a Beatles-scored Cirque du Soleil spectacle.

The move at MGM Mirage's signature resort would mark the next wave of a new British invasion of the desert entertainment capital.

Caesars Entertainment Inc's Paris Hotel & Casino is expected to announce next month that it will open by the end of the year a $US13 million edition of the Queen-scored musical "We Will Rock You" as its resident show, other people familiar with those plans said..

State in Brief - 2004-01-29
A group planning a statewide initiative to require Indian tribes to give more to the state or lose their monopoly on slots and other gambling devices has been cleared to collect signatures.

The initiative would allow 16 existing card clubs and racetracks to operate up to 30,000 lucrative slot machines if all casino-owning tribes do not renegotiate their compacts with the state and agree to contribute one-quarter of their slot revenue to the state. For the measure to appear on the fall ballot, the group must collect 598,105 valid signatures by June 24.
