MADISON: Report sees no financial windfall from a casino - 2004-01-29
A deal that would permit the Ho-Chunk Nation to convert a bingo hall into a casino would most likely not result in a financial windfall for the city, according to a new report.
The city's yearly share of Ho-Chunk revenue would probably amount to just enough to cover added police and fire costs, according to the report released Tuesday.
The report from city comptroller Dean Brasser shows the city would need to add a new police beat at a cost of $450,000 to $500,000 a year. The city also would probably need a new fire station at a cost of about $3 million a year.
