Hotel dryer cause of Atlantis fire - 2004-01-29
A fire inside a laundry dryer in the basement of the Atlantis Hotel Casino early Wednesday morning sent smoke up an elevator duct and set off alarms in a number of parts of the south Reno facility.

The blaze, which started at 3:46 a.m., was confined to the dryer, Reno Fire Department officials said. Hotel guests were not evacuated, but some left their rooms, as well as the casino, and waited outside until the fire was under control, a spokeswoman for the hotel-casino said.

February’s White Orchid Wine Dinner Series at the Peppermill Reno Hotel Casino, Feb. 23, will offer guests the rare opportunity of being the first to taste an extraordinary wine before it is released by the winery to the public.

SpeThe wine is Neibaum-Coppola Estate Winery’s fabled Rubicon, Rutherford, 2000, which isn’t scheduled to be released to stores throughout the country until March 15.

Guests will also be able to sample Rubicon, Rutherford 1999 and compare it to the 2000 vintage.
