The flying country club - and casino - 2004-01-31
A casino in the sky is one of the exciting entertainment possibilites offered by the world's largest aeroplane when it takes off in 2006.

Airbus' behemoth A380 is itself a gamble. More than US$10 billion (S$17 billion) is being pumped in to develop the plane.

The stakes are as high for European consortium Airbus with the A380 as they are for US rival Boeing with its mid-size 7E7 Dreamliner. The latter will take to the air in 2008 (see Part 1 of this report in The Sunday Times last week).

Reddy wins bid for casino in India - 2004-01-31
Durban businessman Vivian Reddy has won the bid for a casino license in India.

Reddy and his business partner in India, former cricketer Kapil Dev, together with Indian investors, will now construct a R1-billion hotel and casino complex in the state of Sikkim, in north-east India, which connects the subcontinent with China.

Reddy made a R3-million bid for the casino late last year.
