Lengthygaming debate brewing - 2004-01-06
State lawmakers are preparing for a potentially long and controversial dispute over the prospect of gambling expansion in Iowa during the upcoming 2004 legislative session. Leaders say the outcome is uncertain.

“All I can say is there’s going to be a debate,’’ said House Speaker Christopher Rants, R-Sioux City. “I can’t tell you whether the Legislature will end up passing the bill or what it will look like.

“It is a distraction,’’ he said.

Gambling was tossed back onto the Legislature’s agenda in November when the state’s Racing and Gaming Commission declined to lift a five-year moratorium on the issuance of new casino licenses.

Cash Systems takes over Seminole contract - 2004-01-06
After Monday's news the tribe ended its contract with Chex Services, Minneapolis-based Cash Systems (OTC BB: CSHS) stated it will now provide cash access services at the Seminole Tribe of Florida casinos.

Cash Systems said it signed a multi-year contract with Native American Cash Systems of Florida to provide cash access services at the Seminole casinos, including ATM, check cashing and cash advance services.

The company said it will install its products at the five Seminole casinos in the state, plus the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, which the
tribe has said it anticipates to open in the spring.
