No permit for casino Baguio mayor firm vs. opening - 2004-01-06
Mayor Bernardo Vergara stated on Tuesday that he would not permit the operation of the disputed casino at Camp John Hay, despite the city council's approval for its opening.

Vergara said he earlier instructed City Treasurer Thelma Manaois not to process any application for a business permit covering the controversial gambling enterprise.

“My order stands and I reiterate not to sign any business license for any casino operator,” he stressed.

In particular, he cited Bishop Carlito Cenzon, Catholic Vicar Apostolic of Baguio-Benguet, and Pastor Oscar Magallanes of the Protestant churches for their initiative in calling for the nonissuance of the business permit.

Creeks sign pact with firm to finance and run casino - 2004-01-06
A new tribal casino will be Oklahoma's biggest and one of the state's few gaming sites funded by an outside management group.

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation contracted last month with a Houston company to construct a $110 million casino and hotel complex along Riverside Drive in south Tulsa.

It is anticipated that the casino will make $36.7 million in its first year after expenses and $47million
in its fifth year, according to a market analysis.

Nevada Gold will receive 12 percent net of the casino's profits in the contract, The Oklahoman has reported.
