Menomonee Tribe Revives Dairyland Casino Plan - 2004-01-07
The Menomonee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin revived plans to build a casino at Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha after a developer exercised exclusive rights to acquire the track and its assets for $40.5 million.
To develop the casino, the tribe will work with the developer, Dennis Troha, and the Mohegan Tribe in Connecticut, which will act as a lender to the developer and serve on the development board.
The plans include the development of a Class III gaming facility, which will include slot machines, blackjack, craps, roulette, poker and other table games. The tribe plans to keep the greyhound racetrack and pari-mutuel wagering on simulcast racing in operation.
