Aldermen and the city's lawyers are scheduled to meet behind closed doors today to discuss land acquisition for a casino, maybe one operated by a Native American gaming company.
Details about a proposed deal could be publicized Friday, sources revealed.
Leaders hope to score a profitable deal with a Midwestern tribe — whose identity hasn't been revealed — while wrangling continues in court over the license belonging to Emerald Casino Inc.
"There is still an interest. We believe we're still in the running and we want to have it here," Mayor Michelle Markiewicz-Qualkinbush said.
