FBI veteran named Nevada Public Safety Director - 2004-01-08
Gov. Kenny Guinn on Thursday appointed a former FBI agent and casino executive as Nevada's new Public Safety Director.

George Togliatti will oversee nine Nevada agencies, including the highway patrol, emergency management, parole and probation, investigations, state fire marshal and traffic safety.

Previously a supervisory agent, Togliatti, 57, spent over 23 years with the FBI. He managed organized crime and drug units in Las Vegas and served as the white-collar crime supervisor.

Most recently, he was a regional vice president of government, community relations and regulatory compliance for Harrah's Entertainment Inc. Before that he held a similar job at Caesars World Inc.

CZM hearing on casino-resort scheduled tonight - 2004-01-08
The Coastal Zone Management Division of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources Department will organize a public hearing at 6 p.m. today at the Curriculum Center in Kingshill to debate the latest aplication filed by Golden Gaming.

New Jersey businessman Paul Golden filed a second application in October for a Coastal Zone Management permit to build a casino-resort close to environmentally sensitive Great Pond on the island's south shore.

The first application was rejected when DPNR Commissioner Dean Plaskett determined that it was incomplete.
