Race track casino wins council support - 2004-01-08
A £12 million casino and hotel complex at Wolverhampton Racecourse has moved on step further after winning planning approval from the city council.
Named the “Racino”, the development could create as many as 185 jobs if it is given the final go-ahead from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The complex – a joint enterprise between Arena Leisure and Gala – could open its doors to the public within a year.
The 40,000 sq ft two-floor casino would be run by Gala and be the first casino built at a racecourse in the country.
