Sky City pulling poker face over Christchurch Casino - 2004-01-09
Sky City Entertainment is putting on its best poker face over the prospect of fresh talks to purchase a $92 million stake in the Christchurch Casino.

The Auckland casinos business has held talks over the past 18 months with the Christchurch landmark's 41 per cent shareholder Aspinall, the London gambling business, but failed to close a deal. But news of the upcoming arrival in New Zealand of Martyn Kennedy, Apinall's finance chief, which brings the prospect of fresh talks, got a nonchalant greeting by the casino business.

"If he is here we may make contact to determine his view on the matter," Sky City chief executive Evan Davies said.

Two men sought in robbery - 2004-01-09
Police are seeking two men who robbed a man at gun and knife point after he offered to give them a lift to a casino, Reno police said.

A warrant was issued accusing Rashon Kalanakai King, 19, of armed robbery and kidnapping in the Sunday incident. He was described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Bail was set at $60,000.

The second suspect was identified as “Mack” and has a large build.
