Channel 9 has chosen a convicted drug manufacturer and former stripper to star in its major 2004 series, The Block.
The network's new reality recruit, Dani Bacha, 29, spent six months in jail after pleading guilty to being an accomplice to making methylamphetamine
or speed.
The former Playboys Afloat owner and stripper, and his wife, Monique Koryzma, who works at Sydney's Star City Casino, were selected from 4000 renovating couples vying for thousands of dollars from the sale of the block.
A Nine spokeswoman said the network required contestants to disclose any criminal convictions.
