Caribbean casinos lure net gamblers offshore - 2004-02-01
As revealed in a survey, Australians' favored place to gamble online is a Caribbean casino.

While online gaming websites are illegal, except on certain sports betting and lottery sites, about 40 per cent of hits by Australians gambling on the internet are on illegal overseas casinos and sports betting services.

The average gambling visit lasts only about 11 minutes, but some sites regularly have punters playing for more than two hours.

Plans for casino fuel land interest - 2004-02-01
The Country Club Hills casino plan is already paying
dividends for at least one adjacent community.

Development interest has surged in a long-dormant parcel of land near Oak Forest, right across Interstate 57 from the planned 275-acre casino site, Oak Forest officials said.

In recent weeks, city officials said they have received at least three major development proposals they consider "very serious."
