Group Plans To Resurrect Moulin Rouge - 2004-02-10
A group of black business owners has bought the long-closed Moulin Rouge property and plans to develop a $200 million locals' casino resurrecting and celebrating the historic hotel.

The new Moulin Rouge will incorporate much of the iconic signage and features of what is left of the old hotel, much of which was destroyed by arson in 2003. Developers plan 500 hotel rooms, a 40,000-square-foot casino, a Motown Cafe, a nightclub and movie theaters.

Integral to the design will be a museum and cultural center celebrating black history in the area and the key role the Moulin Rouge played in race relations for Las Vegas.

Harrah’s to launch women’s gambling site from UK - 2004-02-10
Harrah's, the US casino giant, is to introduce its first internet gambling site, but with a fresh twist.

It’s avoiding traditional casino games and is targeting 35-48-year-old women as their key demographic. Also new is a subscription model for the games, which allows punters to win prizes even when they're not playing.

The games will be skill-based, rather than casino games. Users will pay subscription fee between £10 and £56 per month for unlimited access to the site. There is a fixed pool of prize money which must be given away each month, with a top prize of £150,000 on the main Wingo game, which is based on Bingo.
