Manfredo Jr. jumps to 7th in WBO rankings - 2004-02-10
When Peter Manfredo Jr.'s sixth-round TKO of Sherwin Davis on Jan. 23 at Foxwoods Resort & Casino won him the NABO Junior Middleweight title, he figured that the victory, before a nationally-broadcast audience on ESPN2, would vault him into the top 10 or 15 in the coveted WBO rankings.

When this month's rankings came out on Monday morning, Manfredo's wish came true.

Manfredo made a huge splash in the rankings and earned the No. 7 spot on this distinguished list, which is currently topped by one of the greats in the sport, Oscar De La Hoya.

Angry wives put stop to casino - 2004-02-10
No longer able to stand their husbands' gambling, a group of wives reported to police the existence of a mini casino in Taman Emas close to here.

They put a stop to the casino's eight-month operations run by a 60-year-old man and his 17-year-old nephew.

The police raided the shoplot where the casino has been operating, after a six-week surveillance and found 31 men and nine women, aged between 17 and 60, in the middle of their baccarat and roulette games.
