NZ's Sky City/Trading Halt: Darwin Casino Talks - 2004-02-10
Sky City Entertainment Group Ltd. (SKC.NZ), a New Zealand based casino operator, said it expects to reveal a "significant transaction" later Wednesday
and has requested its shares be put on trading halt until the announcement is made at approximately 2.30 p.m. local time.

"The company believes that information regarding the transaction, if it is entered into, is likely to have a material effect on the company's share price...the company will not, however, be in a position to confirm, or otherwise, the transaction until approximately 2.30 p.m. this afternoon," Sky City said in a statement to the stock exchange.

Judge looking over tribe's legitimacy a second time - 2004-02-10
A judge in Sacramento on Monday contemplated a motion that would allow the legitimacy of the Shingle Springs band of Miwok Indians to be challenged.

The band of Miwoks wants to build a hotel-casino complex, to be called Foothill Oaks Casino, off Highway 50 between Placerville and Cameron Park.

The judge will likely issue a decision in writing in the next 30 days, said Ed Knapp, an attorney from El Dorado County, who attended Monday's hearing.
