PIACT Prepares for 2004 Annual Convention - 2004-02-10
The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc.'s 2004 yearly convention is set for March 16-17, 2004, at Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mashantucket
Conn. Last year almost 500 insurance industry representatives attended the event, and of those nearly half participated in education seminars.

"PIACT's annual convention has become Connecticut's largest gathering of insurance professionals and it continues to grow each year," stated Robert B. Gyle, IV, CIC, president of PIACT. "The venue offers participants the chance to come together and discuss the issues that are affecting their businesses and exchange ideas and solutions to problems they encounter."

Borgata owner buys Vegas rival for $1.3B. - 2004-02-10
Gaming's Big Four will shortly make way for the Big Five.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa owner Boyd Gaming agreed to purchase Coast Casinos for $1.3 billion in cash, stock and assumed debt, creating a company with 17 casinos that's expected to produce $2 billion in revenue this year.

That would rank just behind Mandalay Resort Group, a member of the Big Four with Caesars Entertainment, Harrah's Entertainment and Borgata co-owner MGM Mirage.
