Ameristar sets a new record for monthly winnings - 2004-02-11
Ameristar Casinos Inc. surpassed its record in January for monthly winnings by a Missouri casino, with adjusted gross receipts at its St. Charles riverboat climbing 17.4 percent to $24.9 million.

Ameristar's previous high-water mark was $24.8 million, set in August.

Harrah's Inc.'s casino in Maryland Heights had a good month, too, with winnings rising 8.9 percent in January to $20.8 million.

Council tips for liquor - 2004-02-11
It is now legal for all Opelousas bar owners, not just Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino, to sell alcohol 24-hours a day.

They will also not be obliged to provide security guards.

Tuesday, the Opelousas City Council voted to amend its ordinance on liquor sales.

After the meeting Mayor Anna Simmons said the change goes into effect "immediately."
