Tribe and Plymouth at Odds Over Plans for New Casino - 2004-02-11
A landless Indian tribe in Amador County has been searching for a home, and it found one in the small town of Plymouth. It might not be a problem except the Ione Band of Miwok Indians wants to open a large casino there.
Many people in Plymouth don't want a casino in their town. "The location is inappropriate," said Elida Malick, a member of the Plymouth Planning Commission. "If people want to gamble, they're entitled to gamble. It's a question of where this facility is going to be put."
