Tribe, Tacoma port reach deal on casino - 2004-02-11
The Puyallup Tribe has won support from the Port of Tacoma in its efforts to open a third casino on reservation land.
In return, the tribe dropped its opposition to the port closing a street by its Emerald Queen Casino for a planned $210 million container terminal.
The tribe also operates a second casino near Interstate 5 in East Tacoma. Where to build the third one is being studied, Puyallup Tribal Chairman Bill Sterud said Monday. The tribe is also considering the possible closure and relocation of the Emerald Queen.
